Arlecino
Curatorial Statement
The Arlecchino — "Harlequin" in Italian — is architect Gio Ponti's love letter to joyful travel. This is the front viewing gallery, a space that earns its name: carnival-bright colors tempered by warm creams and yellows, bold without tipping into garish. It's not the most efficient use of space on a moving train, but that's exactly the point. The arrangement of chairs draws you in, invites you to settle, to look out. You stop thinking about where you're going and just appreciate where you are (or so I'd like to imagine, I have yet to ride on it).
